About Us

Shabby Joe Glass Art strives to bring new life to old glassware by recycling it into beautiful glass garden art and ornamental designs, allowing his customers to take pride in contributing to the Green Home effort while providing beauty that lasts for years to come.

Our Business

Shabby Joe started out years ago making Shabby Chic furniture.  While recycling efforts were evolving, Joe felt he needed to do more.  With the abundance of glassware that is all around us, Joe started out selling Glass Garden Art florals in a small little standup rack that held 6 florals.  After months of growing glass inventory and devising a way to make even more beautiful florals which would stand the test of time in hot, humid and wet climates, he began receiving astounding support of his efforts.  In his first year of making Glass Garden Art, Joe sold over a hundred florals.  During the second year sales grew and Joe began naming each floral individually.  After his second year, Joe has used over 400 names.  Entering his third year, Joe will begin to attend Art and Craft Shows in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Illinois.

We are extremely proud of our recent commercial installation at Toast, in Birmingham Michigan.  Owners Regan and Thom Bloom commissioned Shabby Joe to design vintage/modern wall floral designs for their restaurant, located at 203 Pierce, in Birmingham Michigan.  The photo on the Events tab is the main entrance way to Toast's gourmet restaurant in the city.

In Memoriam

On February 23, 2009, Shabby Joe's sister, Bernetta Ratcliffe, passed away after a short illness.  "Bernie" was one of Joe's biggest supporters and was very proud of her brother's florals.  Bernie has florals in her home and garden. We are sadden by this loss of a truly wonderful sister and aunt.  Bernie helped at the Utica Art Show in the Fall of 2008.
