While our bonding agents will be able to withstand freezing temperatures, most glass will crack. Shabby Joe recommends bringing in your floral before freezing temperatures. To be totally safe bring them in by November 1.
That black round object is, yes! a hockey puck. Pucks are study rubber that lets Shabby Joe drill into it to allow the stem of the floral to be inserted.
Shabby Joe has a special mixture of glues, ShabbyGlue, that withstands the direct sun and heat of the summer as well as drenching rains. Shabby Joe does not sell his bonding agent. You can even put your floral in the dishwasher without any concern!
While Shabby Joe buys his rebar from a steel contractor, you may purchase 3/8" rebar in 3 foot sections from your local home hardware store, like Lowe's or HOme Depot. Shabby Joe sprays the rebar with green rust proof paint for longer wear.
No the florals are a permanent mount for display in your home, garden or patio. Small ones can be given as hostess gifts!
Some of Shabby's florals are heavy! As long as you have it secured to the puck, and push it into the ground far enough, you're good to go!
What ever environments you subject glassware to is your key to handling your Shabby Joe floral. Remember some glass is very fragile and can crack and break!
Shabby Joe recommends holding the puck and pushing and twisting the stem into the hole. We don't recommend holding onto the glass while you put the stem in as this may put pressure on the glass, cracking it and possibly causing injury to you.
When pushing your floral stem into the ground we recommend applying pressure to the puck with the stem in it already rather than pushing on the glass.
This is a frequently asked question of Shabby Joe. The answer is yes! Joe has taken depression glass that belonged to customer's mothers. At their request, Joe created beautiful florals by using the depression glass and adding new pieces, creating a wonderful memorial of their mothers. Joe is glad to do this and help you keep memories alive! Glass Garden Art is a wonderful keepsake - have more made for gifts for your other family members!
Unfortunately Shabby Joe Glass Art florals are one of a kind. While in some cases similar florals can be made, generally the unique glassware is only available as one of a kind!
Wow! This is a question Shabby Joe loves to hear! Right now, Shabby Joe has two Harley florals in his inventory in the traditional black and orange colors with insignia of Harley. Just make a request through Shabby Joe's "Contact Us" page and we'll provide details.
Its hard to pick just one Shabby Joe Glass Art piece. One of my floral favorites was Diana - a tribute to Princess Diana. This was one of Joe's early pieces and sold a long, long time ago. You can see the picture though, on the Gallery Pages.
The other favorite was a crystal bird bath with pink depression bowls and plates, 4 ceramic Flamingo napkin rings with 4 chandelier crystals handing from the top. Way over the edge but beautiful! Sold at the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival in summer of 2008.
Each piece of Shabby Joe Glass Wall Art is predrilled to accomodate a wall hanger so that you can place your unique, one of a kind, glass wall art in any room of your home or business. Multiple pieces can be arranged to display your art. If you have special mounting needs, contact Shabby Joe on our Contact Us page.
